Robert Lewandowski receives the Laureus Exceptional Achievement Award 2022 for breaking Gerd Muller’s Bundesliga record
Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski has been honored with the Laureus Exceptional Achievement award 2022 for breaking Gerd Muller’s goalscoring record in Bundesliga history. According to the reports, Lewandowski has shown gratitude for being honored with the special award at Seville right after winning the tenth consecutive title with Bayern Munich.
The 33-year-old Poland International is overwhelmed by receiving the award and recognized by great athletes and sportspeople who have honored him with the award. After receiving the honor, the Polish player said that it needs total dedication and hard work to be recognized as a great player and also recognized for his work as the UNICEF ambassador.
“I’d like to thank the Laureus Academy for the award,” Lewandowski stated. “It really means a lot to be recognized by such wonderful people, athletes, legends of the entire sporting world. It has a really special meaning for me as a sportsman and man.”
“I know sportsmen don’t get anything for free. There are no shortcuts to success in professional sports. If you want to be the best, you have to do your best. But I also believe that no athlete will ever succeed on his own. I remind myself of that whenever I win trophies or prizes. That’s why I want to thank all those who support me,” added the Bayern Munich striker.

Bayern Munich won the Bundesliga title after defeating Dortmund on Saturday to secure their tenth title back-to-back. Robert Lewandowski, Serge Gnabry, and Musiala were amongst the scorers to bring home the trophy. Bayern Munich and Lewandowski’s separation is one of the rumors that Bayern’s director has dismissed and mentioned that Robert will stay.
Robert Lewandowski scored 48 goals in 41 appearances in all competitions this season. He has scored 310 goals in the German top-division league and is only behind Gerd Muller (365 goals) as the top goal scorer in Bundesliga. He is also the leading goal-scorer in a single season of the league with 41 goals in the 2020/21 season.
