AC Milan midfielder, Ruben Loftus-Cheek took a sly dig towards CBS football pundit, Micah Richards after Milan’s win over PSG in the UEFA Champions League. AC Milan ran out 2-1 winners on the night after PSG took an early lead in the 9th minute of the game.
In a post-match interview with CBS Sports, Micah Richards complimented the England international on his haircut stating that it looks like a fly. To this, the player replied:
Yeah, I told my barber I want the Micah Richards.
The reply caused other pundits to ask whether the player spends the same amount of money as Micah does. As he has once admitted to spending £ 24,000 a year on haircuts. Loftus-Cheek replied with a slight dig towards the former Manchester City player claiming that it is because he has to spray the headline. It was all fun and banters as the pundits and Micah Richards also laughed along.
Returning to the Champions League after a tear in his abductor muscle, which saw him on the sidelines, Ruben Loftus-Cheek had an incredible performance on the night at the San Siro. While the player was blamed for the early goal after leaving Milan Škriniar un-marked, the 27-year-old played a crucial role in AC Milan’s comeback against the French Champions. He said
I really wanted to come back for this match to try and help the team…..we said it in the dressing room before, this is a must-win.
With a strong return to the Champions League for Loftus-Cheek, the England International will be hoping for more of the same as the club lost their previous fixture in the Serie A this past weekend.
Will Ruben Loftus-Cheek make it out of the group stages with AC Milan?
On first look, AC Milan has a measly 5 points out of 4 games which would usually mean an incredibly low chance of qualification. However, a deeper dive into Group F shows the fine margins separating the teams in contention.
Only three points separate the current group leaders, Dortmund, and the team at dead last, Newcastle United. AC Milan currently holds the third place but a win in their next game against Borussia Dortmund could easily see them suddenly turn into group leaders themselves. A win for Dortmund on the other hand would most likely guarantee them a spot in the next round. This results to the next match-week being of significant importance.
Aptly named the ‘Group of Death’ when the draw was made, the excitement and lack of knowing have made the group an interesting watch as any of the four teams could qualify with no team guaranteed a spot just yet.
