Samuel Eto’o ‘unbelievable’ 2022 FIFA World Cup prediction might soon become a reality

Samuel Eto'o

Samuel Eto’o confidence in Morocco’s chances of making the World Cup final has been strengthened by their latest success. On Saturday, the African team beat Portugal 1-0, becoming the first African nation to reach the semi-finals. The winner of the upcoming match between England and France will face Morocco in the next round on Wednesday night.

Before the World Cup began, Eto’o was questioned about his prognostications for the tournament and his forecast for Morocco’s path to the championship seemed to be highly accurate. The Cameroonian legend said he thought Morocco would prevail against Spain, Portugal, and France to reach the final.

So far, Morocco have been triumphant over Spain and Portugal, meaning that if France triumphs over England, Eto’o will have accurately forecasted their path to the final. It’s important to recognize that the 41-year-old stated his native Cameroon would reach the final and that Qatar would beat England in the round of 16 stage, so don’t get overly enthusiastic yet.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s FIFA World Cup comes to an emotional end

Cristiano Ronaldo

It was no surprise to some, yet a shock to many. Portugal have been eliminated from the 2022 FIFA World Cup after they were defeated by Morocco. This likely marks the end of Ronaldo’s time at the biggest international football tournament. En-Nesyri put Morocco ahead in the 42nd minute, and Portugal were unable to equalize. Despite putting their all into the game, it simply wasn’t meant to be.

Twitter had an abundant of responses after Ronaldo’s departure, which is widely viewed as one of the biggest disappointments in the sport. Despite what some may say, Ronaldo had done so much for Portugal, and he was rightly rewarded with the final on December 18. Unfortunately, Ronaldo was seen crying and unable to be comforted after the loss.

Morocco achieved a milestone by becoming the first African nation to make it to the World Cup semifinal. Although the three prior African teams to reach the quarterfinals were all eliminated, Ronaldo has indicated that he will not officially retire from international football after the tournament is over. He has even mentioned his hope to play in the 2024 European Championship. No one knows what will happen in the future, but it appears Ronaldo’s days of playing are numbered.
