Jason Sancho has become the latest Manchester United player at the center of controversy following his recent comments against Head Coach Erik Ten Hag. The player was publicly criticized by the Dutchman after he failed to make the matchday squad against Arsenal earlier this month.

Following the 3-1 defeat at the Emirates, Ten Hag said that Sancho’s level during training was not up to the mark and was the reason for his subsequent exclusion. However, Jadon Sancho went public with his response, claiming that he was being made a “Scapegoat” and that it has been going on for a long time.

Speaking with talkSPORT, former footballer Darren Bent gave his take on the situation. He said that Sancho’s decision to go public with his “Scapegoat” comment hinted at his desire for a move away from Old Trafford. Sancho has struggled to replicate his success at Borussia Dortmund with Manchester United, because of poor form and injuries.

Bent said that Ten Hag’s decision to publicly criticize his own player was a mistake and that once they do that, the player never comes back to his usual self. He cited Jose Mourinho, Luke Shaw and Pogba. Bent said that maybe the Premier League challenge was too much and too fast for the £73 million winger.

With Antony’s delicate situation, Sancho may get a last chance to prove himself at Manchester United in the upcoming clash against Brighton on Saturday. “If someone starts ahead of Sancho, that tells you everything you need to know,” said Bent.

Following the international break, Manchester United will return to action on Saturday. The Red Devils will face Brighton on the back of a 3-1 defeat to Arsenal. Manager Erik Ten Hag will be left with a significantly altered selection of players after recent developments in the squad.

As for unavailable players, defenders Raphael Varane and Luke Shaw are still recovering and are not expected to return to first-team action. With options in defense hampered, United are likely to stick with the back four of Diogo Dalot, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof, who started against Arsenal.

Andre Onana is expected to retain his position. Sergio Reguilon has yet to make his first start for the team. New signing Sofyan Amrabat is expected to regain fitness and start alongside Casemiro in the center of the pitch. With Eriksen starting as CAM, Bruno Fernandes will star on the right wing.

Jadon Sancho is unlikely to start following the recent controversy with Ten Hag. Rasmus Højlund will lead the attacking line, while Marcus Rashford will start on the left. Antony is out of selection for his situation, and Facundo Pellistri will be Bruno’s understudy. With upcoming games against Brighton and Bayern Munich in the Champions League, manager Erik Ten Hag has the monumental task of fixing his squad and getting them back to winning ways.
