Ruben Neves, the midfield maestro for Wolverhampton Wanderers, is close to joining Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal in a €55 million deal. The Portuguese had been linked with a move to Barcelona, but the La Liga winners were unable to complete a deal. Neves follows in the footsteps of many other footballers who have relocated to Saudi Arabia.

Rumors are suggesting that the Wolves have agreed to a deal with Al Hilal for Neves. Neves just had a year left on his contract. Wolves are offloading him for a move that will be a club-record sale, which is likely to be completed this week.

Neves was due to leave this summer, but after his deal with Barcelona fell through, the 26-year-old now looks ready to become the latest high-profile player to join the Pro League. Karim Benzema joined Al Ittihad on a free transfer from Real Madrid this month, and Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante is also connected with the club. Cristiano Ronaldo joined Al Nassr in December from Manchester United.

The transfer from Wolverhampton Wanderers is calculated. Wolves must alleviate financial pressure on the club. They have been under pressure to sell in order to stay inside Premier League spending limits after spending £200 million this season. Sadio Mane is being linked with a return to the Premier League, one year after leaving Liverpool to join Bayern Munich. Mane suffered an injury in November that sidelined him for more than three months after a bright start to his Bayern career. Due to this injury, he was unable to compete for Senegal at the World Cup.

When he returned to action, he only scored once in his final 15 appearances of the season. He was suspended and fined after it was reported that he punched teammate Leroy Sane. Mane’s actions have left Bayern with no choice but to sell the Senegalese in the summer.

Newcastle United have their gaze on the winger. Although he attracts interest from Saudi Arabia as well. Mane has added fuel to the fire after he responded to a British Diplomat. The diplomat questioned Mane over the Newcastle move to which he replied “Never say never.” This has ignited more rumors on Mane’s next destination to be Newcastle.
