Tottenham Hotspur striker Richarlison was approached by Saudi club Al-Ittihad after negotiations for Mohamed Salah failed. A late approach, however, meant that a transfer agreement could not be reached. Al-Ittihad threw down the kitchen sink in order to sign Mohamed Salah from Liverpool. The club was ready to offer wages higher than those of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Liverpool would also have received ÂŁ150m for the Egyptian forward. However, as the deal fell through, the club looked elsewhere. Richarlison was their second choice. The Brazilian, who is having a tough time at his club, was approached for his services late on the Saudi transfer deadline day. Time, however, ran out, and an agreement could not be reached.

With the transfer window closed until winter, it will be interesting to see whether Al-Ittihad makes a second approach for the Brazilian striker. The player has started the season rough. With 0 goals and 0 assists in 4 games, he has been largely ineffective in an exciting Tottenham Hotspur side.

The striker also had a tough game against Bolivia, as he was seen in tears on the bench after he was substituted. With bad form following him all the way to South America, could a move to the Middle East revitalize the player? Richarlison remains the main striker for Spurs after the departure of Harry Kane. Richarlison will rejoin Spurs when they take on Sheffield United at home on September 16th.

After a rough start to his career for the London Club, Richarlison was bought by Spurs for a fee of ÂŁ50m plus ÂŁ10m in potential add-ons. Fans must have been excited to see a Premier League talent join their club. With 10 goals and 5 assists in 30 games for Everton in the league, fans were excited to see what he could achieve with better teammates.

However, his first season with the Spurs has been anything but easy. Richarlison managed just one goal in 27 appearances for the club. With over 24 shots taken and 14 on target, the player has a conversion rate of .04. With three yellow cards, the player has been booked more times than he has scored.

Only managing three assists, the player has been unable to replicate his Everton and Watford form for The Lilywhites. The player, however, was always able to perform on the international stage, scoring an incredible overhead kick in the World Cup group stages. Now starting his second season at the club, the Brazilian will be hoping for a stronger season. Unless the player is able to pick up form, the Spurs hierarchy may be looking elsewhere to find goals.
