Scottish clubs Rangers and Hibernian have jointly condemned the disgraceful vandalism at Rangers’ stadium during their recent game. The acts mocked the tragic 1971 ‘Ibrox disaster’ when 66 people lost their lives and 200 were injured.

While Rangers won 4-0 in their match, attention was drawn to the appalling vandalism in the away section. Photos of stairway no. 13 were placed on seats, and the number ’66’ was written on many of them, alluding to the tragic event at Ibrox Stadium during the 1971 ‘Old Firm’ derby against Celtic.

Rangers condemns in the strongest possible terms the graffiti and stickers left by a section of the Hibernian supporters at Ibrox this afternoon. The Ibrox Disaster remains the darkest day in our club's history and continues to affect a number of families to this day.

Hibernian also released a statement showing their support for their fellow Scottish club. Their statement read:

The club will work with Rangers to identify those responsible. We will take the most serious action possible against anyone involved.

Hibernian also shared an email ID. Fans can share any information they have on the event, ensuring their identity will remain anonymous.

Rangers achieve a debut win under new manager, Philippe Clement

Previous manager Michael Beale was sacked due to Rangers’ home loss to Aberdeen. Now, life has started well for Philippe Clement who won in devastating fashion at his first game in charge as manager for Rangers.

Abdallah Sima, a player from Senegal, scored the first goal for Rangers in the 17th minute. Then, Nicolas Raskin made it 2-0 with a long-range shot. Sima scored again with a powerful close-range shot, bringing the score to 3-0 by the 65th minute. In the 79th minute, Rangers added a fourth goal, thanks to a smart pass from Todd Cantwell, finished by Cyriel Dessers.

Despite the great debut for manager Philippe Clement, the attention shifted to the inappropriate behavior of some away fans, who mocked the 1971 victims.
