Senegal’s Ismaila Sarr celebrates his goal with a protesting gesture against world’s disregard for ongoing atrocities in Africa at 2022 FIFA World Cup
Senegal are out of the 2022 FIFA World Cup after they were convincingly defeated by England by 3 goals to nil. Senegal who overcame the likes of Qatar & Ecuador to reach the Round of 16 were missing their talisman and captain Sadio Mane in this year’s World Cup edition after he picked up a knee injury just prior to the inaugral ceremony.
Veteren players such as Koliduo Kolibauly and Idrissa Gana Gueye were stalwart to them advancing the knockout stage with all their 5 goals in the competition being scored by different players. However, one incident during their first goal against Ecuador has now made headlines after being not reported either intentionally or not.
Watford winger Ismaila Sarr calmly dispatched his penalty against Ecuador which gave Senegal the lead which eventually they went to win to the expense of the South American’s elimination. In his goal celebration, Sarr was covering his eyes and pointing a finger to his head, imitating a gun.
According to sources, the gesture has now became a symbol of world media’s ignorance for reporting the ongoing atrocities in Africa, especially in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Last week, 300 civilians were killed in an attack on the Kishishe village in DR Congo. It was blamed on the M23 rebel group who last year abandoned a ceasefire. UN experts believe M23 are funded by Paul Kagame’s Rwandan government.

Senegal were no match against the three lions in their Round of 16 clash at 2022 FIFA World Cup
Senegal loss to England was simply the three lions being too good for the Lions of Teranga. Senegal looked threatening in the opening first quarter but it was all they could manage England scored against the run of play. Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson finished empathically after Jude Bellingham found him in the box.
It was a night to remember for former Birmingham podigy as Senegal had no answer to any of his attribbutes. Harry Kane scored his first goal of the tournament after always being the architect to his team’s goals in this World Cup. Saka continued his hot streak by scoring his third goal of this World Cup Finals. England now prepare for their hotly anticipated clash against the French on Saturday.
