Spanish legend Sergio Busquets, who plays for the La Liga club Barcelona, has officially announced his retirement from International football. His decision comes after Spain’s disappointing exit from the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Known as the ‘Octopus’ from Barcelona, Busquets became a household name in Catalunia with his passing through his technically advanced defensive abilities. He missed a crucial penalty in the loss to Morocco.
Sergio Busquets, who has been the Spanish midfield’s mainstay for over a decade, will now take his boots back to his club, where he will decide about his club’s future between FC Barcelona and Inter Miami soon. The legend who’s captained both Spain’s national side and Barcelona has almost won every possible Laurel possible. The World Cup winner is set to embark on a new journey.
Unfortunately, Sergio Busquets’ retirement from Spain is the end of an era for Spain, the country that dominated World football for decades. He was a crucial member of the 2010 FIFA World Cup squad that brought glory to Spain. Every individual that played for Spain in that World Cup has either retired from the team or does not play in the team now.
The glorious career and inspiring journey of the midfield legend famously known for his playmaking abilities even as a defensive midfielder (CDM). He is the man that brought an evolutionary change in the defensive aspect of the midfield. He was as good at providing for the goals as he was at stopping the opponent.
