Sergio Ramos returns to his boyhood club of Sevilla after 18 years away, on a free transfer from PSG. The 37-year-old has signed a one-year deal with the Seville-based football club.
Sergio Ramos upon signing, immediately apologized to all Sevilla players or fans who were offended by actions during his time at Real Madrid. “I think I’ve made mistakes and I want to take the opportunity to apologize,” he states. Ramos received complaints from the Sevilla fan base when he cupped his ears in celebration against his former club. The club also launched an official complaint against the player at the time.
Sergio Ramos has played against Sevilla on 33 different occasions. He amassed a total of 15 yellow cards in 33 appearances, being sent off once. Fans always booed the player anytime he stepped onto Sevilla’s ground in the Royal White. However, now, the situation is a lot different. Sevilla needed Ramos’ leadership qualities and solidity at the back in an attempt to get out of their current position in the La Liga table. With 0 wins in 3 games losing to recently promoted side, Deportivo Alavés, and with two home losses to Girona and Valencia things are not looking good for Sevilla.
A good season is crucial for Sergio Ramos who has not quite been himself since his final season for Los Blancos. Sevilla is set to take on Las Palmas after the international break on the 17th of September. Ramos will be hoping to make his debut and possibly help keep a clean sheet to earn the fans’ forgiveness.
