Sergio Ramos and Cristiano Ronaldo were teammates for nine years at Real Madrid. They were in one of Real Madrid’s most successful teams, with them winning the Champions League three times in a row. The two aren’t at Real Madrid now, with Ronaldo in Al Nassr and Ramos at Sevilla.
On 5th February, Ronaldo turned 39 years old and received birthday wishes from fans and colleagues all over the world. Many wished him on his birthday, but not his former captain. Instead, ‘El Capitan’ wished a current teammate and a former teammate, who played for rivals FC Barcelona.
Sergio Ramos first wished Neymar Jr. in a story, his former teammate at Paris Saint Germain. Later, he greeted Adnan Janujaz, his teammate from Sevilla, and the Spain National Team.
Cristiano Ronaldo came to Real Madrid in 2009 from Manchester United. He spent 9 years there, winning four Champions Leagues, two League titles, and two Copa del Reys. He departed in 2018 after achieving a Threepeat.
Ronaldo joined Juventus in 2021 and then returned to United. In 2023, he left United due to a disagreement with Erik ten Hag and moved to Saudi Arabia. Ramos left Madrid three years after Ronaldo, joining PSG, and later returned to Sevilla, his childhood club, after two years.
Fans wonder why Sergio Ramos didn’t wish Ronaldo on his birthday
Being teammates for nine years, many fans were surprised as to why Ramos didn’t wish Ronaldo on his birthday. Many joked about how he preferred Ronaldo’s biggest rival, Lionel Messi, who he even mentioned in his retirement announcement. Some defended him, saying he must have wished him personally. Some just claimed he did not like Ronaldo and that’s the reason he didn’t wish for him.
Here are some of the fans’ reactions:
Ramos currently plays for Sevilla, the club with whom he began his professional football career. He was purchased by Real Madrid in 2005 for a then-world-record fee for a Spanish defender. Since then he has been wearing the number four. After Iker Casillas left in 2015, Ramos was made captain.
