Even though World Cup winner and Champions League veteran Sergio Ramos currently piles his trade with Sevilla, there is no football fan that could fail to identify him with Real Madrid. Once synonymous with the royal white jersey of the Los Blancos, the 37-year-old was up against his former teammates in La Liga on Sunday. Even though Madrid won thanks to a goal fron Luka Modric, a moment between Ramos and Toni Kroos took the headlines.

Sergio Ramos parted ways with Real Madrid back in 2021 to join Paris Saint-Germain. After two years in France, the legendary defender is now back in Spain to play for his former club, Sevilla. As proven time and again, Ramos has never been one to shy away from a fight. Sunday’s game against Real didn’t exactly feature a fight, but saw Ramos go up against Toni Kroos.

The German was unhappy at the referee for a foul called against his favor, and just as he was about to confront the referee, along came Ramos to guide him away from the official.

Following the full-time whistle, Ramos met up with his former teammates, and in a viral video, the Spaniard exchanged jerseys with Luka Modric. Sevilla are currently 15th in the league, and just six points above the relegation zone.

Ageless Luka Modric bags winner against Sevilla

Real Madrid have risen to the top of La Liga and have no signs of slowing down. Defending champions FC Barcelona are eight points away from their rivals while Real Madrid are cruising with yet another win, this time against Sevilla. The hosts were clearly the better side in the fixture, with Orjan Nyland coming between the their attackers and the goal.

Shots from Federico Valverde and Vinicius Jr. were expertly pushed away by the Sevilla keeper. An earlier goal from Lucas Vazquez in the first half was chalked off by VAR citing a fould in the build-up. Madrid’s winner came late in the second half, when an attempt to clear a cross fell invitingly to Modric. The veteran took a touch at the edge of the box before curling his shot past Nyland’s reach.

His goal meant that Real are now unbeaten in their last eight games and are now 8 points ahead of Barcelona. A steep drop in form means that title contenders Girona are now third – eleven points behind Madrid. Carlo Ancelotti‘s men are up against Valencia in their next league game before they host RB Leipzig in the Champions League.
