According to the insider, the conflict between the Colombian singer Shakira and the Barcelona footballer Gerard Pique started over money.

Although there are still many unanswered questions regarding Shakira and Gerard Piqué, the singer’s ex-brother-in-law claims to know the truth. According to Spanish media site EsDiario, Roberto Garcia, the ex-boyfriend of one of Shakira’s sisters, the issues between the Colombian superstar and the soccer player started because of money.

Garcia said that Gerard requested a loan from the mother of his children so that he could use the money to invest in other enterprises, but the “Hips don’t lie” singer declined to do so since her parents advised against it.

“According to what a person very close to them has told me, there has been an economic problem between the two. Supposedly, Piqué would have asked Shakira for money for an investment issue, and the singer’s family refused to give it to him. They don’t mix their money, and they keep the family economy at 50%,”  according to Roberto Garcia.

Additionally, Roberto asserts that the singer never intended to be married. “Shakira fixed on Piqué because she liked him to be the father of her children. She knew she would never marry him,” he continued.

The Colombian artist is reportedly thinking about returning to the United States, according to several Spanish-language media publications. Shakira and the Spanish soccer player are engaged in a legal dispute, according to Spain’s national daily sports publication Marca.

Even though they never got married, Shakira and Piqué could go to court to resolve their differences in order to maintain their parental rights over their two boys, Milan and Sasha.
