The singer and the tennis player reportedly started their covert relationship back in 2009 when they first met for the Gypsy video clip, according to the Spanish paparazzi Jordi Martin.
“I can say that Shakira made a video clip with Alejandro Sanz, but she did not get involved with him,” Martin explained to America Noticias.
“She got involved with someone equally or more famous.” The host of the show begged the man to reveal the name but he did not provide it. Instead, he gave out a clue saying, “He is a world-renowned person and a top sportsman. He’s not a footballer, he’s a tennis player.”

Jordi Martin provided a hint on Shakira’s secret relationship with Rafael Nadal
He did not reveal the Tennis player’s name but said that he was the star of the video ‘Gitana’, a song of Shakira released back 2010, the same year in which the alleged relationship would have taken place.
“I say that there was something in a video clip with a top athlete in Spain, among the three best athletes in the history of the country. That’s where I leave it, I can’t name names,” he finished.
While laughing and exchanging sensual looks were featured in the music video for one of Shakira’s most popular songs, it appears that there was more going on than was necessary for the screenplay. The paparazzo reportedly said that the two were engaged in a passionate love affair when the song’s music video was being made, according to the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera.
At the time, reports circulated that Shakira was dating popular Spanish singer Alejandro Sanz. However, the tennis player was in a tricky predicament because Mary Perell, whom he met in 2005 at school, was already Nadal’s romantic interest at the time.
