Sidemen raise £1 million in charity against YouTuber All-Star

The football game between “YouTube All-Stars” and the YouTube group the “Sidemen” on Saturday was a triumph, raising almost £1 million for charity in 25th September.

In the match, MrBeast, one of the biggest creators in the world, competed alongside Chunkz, IShowSpeed, and Yung Philly, as well as KSI and his fellow Sidemen. After Simon Minter, alias Miniminter, scored an unbelievable lob in the closing seconds of the game at Charlton Athletic’s Valley Stadium, the Sidemen won 8-7.

The four selected charities that were supported by the game, however, were the true winners of the day. The cash earned, according to The Mirror, were divided among four organisations: 40% went to CALM, 40% to the Teenage Cancer Trust, and 10% each went to Rays of Sunshine and M7 Education.

For any UK YouTube enthusiasts, it was an event not to be missed, and it should come as no surprise that it was shown in front of a large audience. All of the earnings from the game went to the aforementioned charities, and the host Munya Chawawa reported following the game that more than £1 million had been raised by viewers both online and in person.

One of the most watched streams in YouTube history

The quantity of concurrent viewers the Sidemen’s official YouTube stream of the game received was equally impressive. One of the most watched streams in YouTube history, with a peak audience of 2.5 million at one time in the game.

At the time of writing, The Sidemen had 16.7 million followers and often attracted over 10 million views for their “Sidemen Sunday” uploads. When counting every player on the field for Saturday’s game, the total number of subscribers was well over one billion.

One individual, MrBeast, is the source of about 100 million of those. The American wasn’t quite able to have as much of an impact on the game as some of his contemporaries, despite being on track to overtake PewDiePie as the largest independent YouTube creator.

But the same cannot be true of streamer IShowSpeed, whose entertaining – and frequently odd – antics stole the show. By taking out KSI with a crushing tackle just seconds into the game, Speed, as he is known to many, laid down the challenge nearly right away.
