Paul Ince reveals spat he had with Sir Alex Ferguson before leaving Manchester United

Paul Ince joined Manchester United in 1989 from West Ham United. He made his debut under Sir Alex Ferguson in 1989 and played an integral part in his team for the Scot for the next six years. The midfielder played 272 games for the Red Devils, scoring 27 times and assisting 16 times.

Towards the end of his stint with United, his relationship with Sir Ferguson kept getting worse and it was completely ruined after a match with Norwich. United won the game 3-1 and Ince tried to dribble past a couple of players. Sir Ferguson didn’t like it, singling him out and shouting at him. Ince decided to talk back, which caused many teammates to defend their manager.

I said to him, 'Gaffer, you can go f*** yourself. I don't give a f*** gaffer, go and f*** yourself, do what you want. You're moaning when we've just won, f*** off'. All of a sudden he said, 'Don't talk to me like that', and he went for me.

Ince ended up leaving the club for Inter Milan, playing in Italy for two years. He returned to England to play for United rivals Liverpool. After retiring, Ince moved to management, even facing Sir Ferguson while managing Blackburn Rovers.
