After Erik ten Hag struggles with Manchester United, former Brighton and Chelsea boss Graham Potter has emerged as a potential successor. This could happen if new investor Sir Jim Ratcliffe shows the Dutch manager the door in his bid to change the club’s fortunes.

Erik ten Hag has been the forerunner of some of the worst records for the Red Devils. This includes their worst-ever performances and defeats in 7-2 against Liverpool and their worst start to a season since 1989. The club had secured just four victories from their first seven games.

However, United might not be the only club interested in Graham Potter, as Serie A champions Napoli have also ventured their interest in hiring him, as per the Sun. Should the INEOS chief, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, buy the 25% minority stake at the club, this could be one of the first changes he would be willing to make.

Ratcliffe has had a good track record after investing in sporting projects. Even though United finally got their first set of consecutive victories after a while, ten Hag is still under enormous pressure. In the past months, the Dutch manager has shown his hostile attitude towards players and dictatorial aspects of controlling the management in the club. His antics could soon end as fans of the club share mixed emotions.

Saudi could hijack Manchester United’s new Sporting Director target

As Manchester United edges closer to the appointment of a sporting director, the competition for the role has taken an unexpected twist. While Paul Mitchell remains a prime candidate for the position, the English club is now contending with interest from Saudi Arabian clubs aiming to elevate their football management teams.

With Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s anticipated acquisition of a minority stake in the club and INEOS poised to assume complete sporting control, a significant overhaul in the football operations is on the horizon. Mitchell, celebrated for his successful stints at AS Monaco and other clubs, has garnered attention from United. Still, the emergence of Saudi Pro League teams in the race for his expertise illustrates the shifting dynamics of football recruitment.

The evolving football landscape showcases top clubs’ aspirations and highlights the ambitions of emerging football powers looking to invest in experienced executives and budding talent. As the Manchester United takeover inches closer, the club faces the challenge of securing Mitchell’s services amid growing competition, underscoring the need to adapt to the changing dynamics in football management and recruitment.
