Sir Jim Ratcliffe
In order to concentrate on his goals with Nice, Sir Jim Ratcliffe the richest man in Britain, has decided against making a takeover offer for Liverpool and Manchester United. After 12 years as the Reds’ owner, it was revealed on Monday that Fenway Sports Group (FSG) is open to selling the team. The club was purchased by the sports investment group for £300 million in 2010, and since then, it has seen the value of its asset soar.
Forbes valued Liverpool at £3.5 billion in May, and FSG has set a lofty asking price of £4 billion to sell the company. Ratcliffe, the chief executive of INEOS, is one of a restricted number of possible investors who might afford to take control at Anfield because he is worth over £10 billion.
The 70-year-old has a long history of involvement in sports and has owned Nice since August of this year. Ratcliffe, a lifelong supporter of Manchester United who has held season tickets at Stamford Bridge, attempted to purchase Chelsea from Roman Abramovich earlier this year but was unsuccessful.

Sunday’s hard-fought 2-1 victory over Tottenham gave Liverpool their first away Premier League victory of the year. After the final whistle, there were joyful scenes as Jurgen Klopp celebrated with his signature fist pumps in front of the visiting supporters, a rare sight in recent months.
The Reds have been placed up for sale, according to news that first surfaced less than a day after Liverpool owner Fenway Sports Group (FSG) gained the vital three points. It served as a stark reminder of the other side of premier league football, where clubs are treated like assets and decisions are made with stakeholders’ best interests in mind.

Liverpool fans’ reactions to the news on Monday were mixed, which was not unexpected given how divided the fandom has been around FSG for some time. A transfer policy that prioritizes a relatively low net spend has some people increasingly frustrated, despite the stability of the past 12 years and recent seasons’ on-field success.
This is why a lot of Liverpool supporters would be happy to see their team sold to someone or a group who they felt had greater vision. Many surveys being circulated on Twitter indicate that some people would even be content to be owned by a Middle Eastern nation, like Manchester City, Newcastle United, and Paris Saint-Germain are.
