Things have taken a hopeful turn for Manchester United. Lifelong supporter and billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe has completed the purchase of a 25% minority stake in the club. The deal was valued at £1.2 Billion. It signifies Ratcliffe’s influence on the club’s sporting and commercial aspects.

Ratcliffe has immediately announced the injunction of over $300 million in the club. They will be for infrastructural development and providing best-of-the-world services at Carrington and Old Trafford. The Premier League is set to approve the move in the coming week. An exciting period starts for the Manchester United supporters on the dawn of a new year.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s message to the United fans

Ratcliffe asserted in a statement as he asked for the Red Devil’s supporters to dream again. He also confirmed to bring in the INEOS group on two seats for the United board. This will help them get better expertise in running the club.

As Ratcliffe has already underlined he is set to improve the club for the long term, one man not satisfied with his arrival would be current manager, Erik ten Hag. Subsequently, rumors have surrounded since the past months that Ratcliffe favors ex-Chelsea manager Graham Potter and is willing to replace the Dutchman with the Englishman.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a billionaire from Failsworth, had meaningful talks at Old Trafford about taking over Manchester United. Ratcliffe, the founder and chairman of the INEOS chemicals group, is not only a business leader but also a passionate fan of the club. Alongside former British Cycling chief Sir Dave Brailsford, he’s interested in influencing the future of the team he has supported since the 70s, attending matches with his father.

Furthermore, in the message to the fans, Sir Jim Ratcliffe also addressed himself as a ‘lifelong’ supporter of the club. 

As a local boy and a lifelong supporter of the Club, I am very pleased that we have been able to agree a deal with the Manchester United Board that delegates us management responsibility of the football operations of the Club.

Beyond the formal discussions, Ratcliffe’s visit included a schedule that extended to the Carrington training complex, highlighting a hands-on approach and a genuine interest in the club’s inner workings. As a local lad buying a minority stake in his boyhood club, it is a dream come true for Ratcliffe. He will now manage the footballing operations shares from the Glazer family looking to shake things up at United.
