Sky Sports will debut a new camera angle in the Arsenal vs. Manchester City match this weekend. It’s called the ‘game mode’ view, and it aims to give viewers at home the same angle used in EAFC 24. This camera, provided by BatCam, will swiftly move along the pitch on a rail to keep up with the action.
The goal is to offer viewers a fresh perspective on the game, making it easier to spot off-the-ball movement and tactics that can be tricky to see with the current angles. This ‘game mode’ view has already been tested in WSL games. Its success this weekend will determine whether it becomes a permanent part of Premier League broadcasts.
“We’re thrilled about ‘Game Mode’. It can enhance the fan experience. We appreciate the support of Arsenal FC and the Premier League in testing this innovation,” said Phil Marshall, Sky Sports’ Director of Production. Further, Rachael Nightingale, Head of Media Operations and Innovation at the Premier League, also expressed her excitement. She said, “We believe ‘Game Mode’ will offer an exciting new way to enjoy the action from home.”
While talks of the new camera angle may excite some fans, many are more focused on the title race as 3rd place Arsenal take on current league leaders, Manchester City.
Arsenal to break winless duck against Manchester City
Before the big game on Sunday, it’s worth noting that Arsenal has lost 12 consecutive matches to Manchester City in the Premier League. This streak began in November 2017 after a 3-1 win for City, during which Gabriel Jesus scored against his current team.
Arsenal has struggled during this period, scoring only 5 goals and conceding over 33 to Manchester City. However, Mikel Arteta aims to break this streak. But Pep Guardiola‘s Manchester City will be without key players like Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne.
Additionally, Bukayo Saka is expected to play after recovering from an injury sustained against RC Lens earlier in the week. This presents Arsenal with a golden opportunity to outperform their main title rivals.
