Chelsea faced yet another 2-0 defeat against Real Madrid in the UCL Quarter Final leg two at the Stamford Bridge stadium on Tuesday. Chelsea was eliminated from the tournament by Real Madrid with an aggregate score of 4-0.
It seemed Lampard took a page out of Pep Guardiola’s book as Chelsea’s first-half player positioning reminded many of Pep’s city. Chelsea had plenty of positive signs to take from their first-half performance. Although the first half was a pretty tight one which saw neither of the team opens the score sheet. N’golo Kante had a very promising chance in the 11th minute of the game. Although it went wide causing no problem for the opponents. The same could be said about Rodygo’s attempt in the 18th minute. Chelsea’s left-back Marc Cucurella saw himself getting a yellow card at the 34 minutes mark.
The second half also started off in the same sort. Chelsea was still looking for the goal in order to get some breathing ground. But it was Real Madrid’s Rodrygo who opened the scoring for the night. He tapped in from a close range in the 58th minute after a scramble in front of the goal. Later in the 64th-minute mark, Enzo Fernandez had an effort on goal.
However, Courtois dealt with it efficiently. Rodrygo found the net again in the 80th minute of the game which saw Real Madrid go 4-0 up against Chelsea on aggregate.
