Son Heung-min breaks silence over Harry Kane’s departure from Tottenham, says they were always ‘so close

Son Heung-min wished his friend and former teammate Harry Kane the best of luck at Bayern Munich as the England forward moved to the German champions on Saturday. Son said he was sad to see Kane leave but understood his decision to move to a club that can challenge for the big trophies. 

Kane joined Bayern for a fee of £100 million, making him the most expensive signing in the club’s history. He intends to help Bayern win their 11th straight Bundesliga title as well as the Champions League. At Tottenham Hotspur, the powerful duo, of Son and Harry Kane formed one of the most prolific partnerships in Premier League history, scoring a combined 146 goals in 341 appearances for Spurs. The South Korea international baller said he was sad to see Kane leave but understood his decision to move to a club that could challenge for major trophies.

Son Heung Min on Harry Kane joining FC Bayern: “He’s a world-class player. I’m just one of his close friends of him, so I just wish him the best, and his family, his kids, and also his wife.” He further added, “We were always so, so close that I’m always hoping that he wins everything because he totally deserves it. He made a decision that he wanted to move next steps, which as a friend, as a footballer, as a brother I think I have to support him like family.”

Fan’s expectations are quite high as Heung-Min Son named Tottenham captain for the 2023/24 Premier League season

Son Heung-min is the first Asian player to captain Tottenham. He has been with the club since 2015 and has scored 133 goals in 327 appearances. He is also the club’s all-time top scorer in the Champions League. 

Son is expected to have a successful season at Tottenham. The club finished fourth in the Premier League last season and will be hoping to challenge for trophies in the upcoming campaign.
