Speculation over Gerard Pique wanting to ‘ripoff’ Shakira with his father

Gerard Pique reportedly had a plan to “bankrupt” ex-partner Shakira using her debt. The Colombian singer and the Spanish footballing legend split up recently after twelve years together.

The former Defender and his father allegedly had a great responsibility for Shakira’s million-dollar debt with the Spanish Treasury. The Spaniard and his father had managed the Colombian’s fortune for years and could have ended up in prison because of it.

The father and son duo reportedly took advantage of Shakira’s trust in them. The two created tax havens in the singer’s name, making her the only person responsible for the non-payment of her taxes. It is also reported that Pique was planning on leaving the Colombian after bankrupting her.

However, it seems Shakira had detected the trap in time, and put the house they shared in her father’s name before moving on from Barcelona. The singer also referenced this in her diss track, “You left me as neighbour to the mother-in-law, with the press at the door, and the debt in the treasury.”

Gerard Pique had reportedly given up on 30 million euros owed to him by FC Barcelona. The Spanish footballer has spent 23 years of his life representing the Catalonia club, both at a youth and professional level.

The 2010 World Cup winner had an amicable split with Barcelona, giving up a huge chunk of wages yet to be paid to him. Joan Laporta praised his career, “Gerard has achieved everything for the club. He spent 25 years here, he’s been a Cule from a young age.” The Barcelona president expressed his thanks at having Pique at the club, “It was an honor to have him play for Barcelona”

Gerard Pique has won 13 trophies with Barcelona. The Spaniard also had a spell with English giants, Manchester United, winning four trophies, and a loan stint at Real Zaragoza. Despite having played for a number of big clubs, fans consider Pique a Culer through and through.
