Stats reveals Manchester United is the ‘most hated club’ of Premier League
Manchester United
According to the findings of a study done by Sky Bet before the new season, Premier League supporters want Man Utd to underperform the most this year.
In the 2022–23 Premier League season, Sky Bet’s Fan Hope Survey asked more than 1,500 supporters to vote on which Premier League team they would like to see underperform. Despite the fact that Manchester United hasn’t won a trophy since 2017, fans from the rest of the league continue to cheer on the Red Devils’ decline since Sir Alex Ferguson left the team in 2013.
The red side of Manchester had to settle for a Europa League berth after flirting with a top four slot throughout the whole season, while the blue side of Manchester was celebrating yet another Premier League championship, they’re sixth since 2011.
A fifth (20%) of supporters polled chose Manchester United as the team they wished would do the worst, whether it was because of the fan base, the club’s prior success, or regional rivalry. Their cross-city foes Man City came in second on the list with 15% of the votes, and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool took third with 12% of the votes.

The poll findings also showed which team a certain supporter cast their vote for most frequently. With 51% of the fans polled opting for Erik ten Hag’s team, Leeds fans are the group of supporters that want to see Man United do worse than expected the most. 36% of Manchester City supporters and 33% of Liverpool supporters agreed with the Elland Road faithful as well.
The survey’s focus on Man Utd’s dislike persisted, with 72% of supporters believing that Cristiano Ronaldo and company would not win another Premier League championship in the following five years.
They last won the league in 2013, and according to Premier League supporters, they will have to wait even longer to add a 14th league championship to their collection of trophies.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding Ronaldo’s future and the prospective acquisition of Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona, the Red Devils and their new manager Erik ten Hag had a solid preseason. Man United supporters are certain that with fresh additions like Christian Eriksen, Tyrell Malacia, and Lisandro Martinez, they can disprove the critics who want to see them play poorly once more.
