Saudi club Al Ettifaq have signed Liverpool and England legend Steven Gerrard as their new manager. The legendary midfielder is set to be handed a huge transfer budget to create a star-studded team.
According to reports, Al Ettifaq is in the final stages of talks to appoint Gerrard as their new manager. This comes just a few weeks after Gerrard debunked the rumors of him taking up the hot seat in Saudi Arabia.
In a recent interview, a few weeks back, Gerrard was asked about his view over a possible coaching career in the Saudi Arabian League. He said, “I was invited over there to look at a potential offer. I’ve been analyzing that. But where I stand right now I won’t be taking it on.”
Although things seemed to go sideways at first, it seems that Gerrard is set to take up the managerial position at the Saudi Arabian club. The club’s chief is reportedly in London to finalize the deal with the former Rangers and Aston Villa boss.
Reports suggest that Gerrard might be appointed in the next few days. Gerrard will reportedly be given millions to bring high-profile players from Europe in the coming days. This is because the club is ready to spend heavily to build a team who would win trophies.
