Super agent Jorge Mendes engineering a move for Cristiano Ronaldo to this club after many failed attempts: Reports
Jorge Mendes is putting a lot of effort into getting Ronaldo the outcome he desires, playing in the Champions League but he’s also working hard to find a replacement for Manchester United. Mendes has suggested that Ronaldo moves to Napoli and that United purchase their Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen.
However, Napoli would only consider a triple-digit bid for Osimhen, and it is unclear how United could pay for him with the funds they are willing to set up to purchase Antony from Ajax. That transaction is approaching. When it was first reported that Ronaldo intended to leave Old Trafford earlier in the summer, Napoli showed interest in signing him.
Ronaldo’s removal from the payroll would free some funds for United to possibly reinvest, though it is unknown how much. Rafael Leo coming from AC Milan to United in the other direction was Mendes’ alternative proposal, but Milan rejected it, according to Gianluca Di Marzio. Ronaldo wants to move abroad for personal reasons, and if United can find a suitable replacement, he might get his wish.
Napoli forward Victor Osimhen would be interested in a move to Manchester United if his club are willing to facilitate a swap deal between him and Ronaldo. As part of the deal, Osimhen would get a considerable wage increase if he moves to Old Trafford, in addition to getting a first-team status.
Cristiano Ronaldo has been unsuccessful in engineering a move away from Old Trafford all summer
Ronaldo has been angling for a move all summer but nothing has materialized, with clubs such as Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain all rejecting the opportunity for various reasons. Some have cited Ronaldo’s age, while others have said no due to his tactical fit or the high cost of the operation itself, as the 37-year-old’s wages will be hard to take on.
If he doesn’t move, Ronaldo will have to stay at Manchester United and play Europa League football for the first time in his career since leaving Sporting as a teenager. A deal with Napoli, however, seems unlikely and it seems as though Ronaldo will have to stay at Old Trafford and honour the final year of his contract there.
