Supercomputer predicts France as favourites to win the World Cup 2022 ahead of the likes of England, Brazil

World Cup

A Supercomputer has predicted that France are likely to lift the World Cup this winter at Qatar, and become only the third nation after Brazil and Italy to retain the World Cup ever in their history.

The Blues won the Cup in 2018 after defeating Croatia 4-2 in the finals. Although they haven’t fared in well in recent Nations League games, they still remain the favourites to win owing to their start studded squad and massive squad depth.

Accridng to the  The Analyst’s model that made over 1000 simulations of the competition, France have a 17.93% chance of lifting the trophy this year. Brazil come in second with a 15.73% chance. Spain came in third and remained the only other team with a win chance in double digits at 11.53%.

Last year’s Euro finalists England came in 4th with a far lower 8.03% chance while Belgium with their ‘Golden Generation’ finished the top 5 at 7.90%. England have also dipped in form recently but will be hopefully to bounce back for the tournament.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal was just behind Lionel Messi’s Argentine at 5.11% while the 2 time World Cup winners remained at 6.45%. Both countries have come a long way since the 2018 World Cup and are definitely more improved than before.

It will be an interesting winner World Cup this time in Qatar as nations gear up for the coveted trophy. France definitely remain favourites but anything can happen in the World Cup.
