“That [incident] is quite unique”- Jose Mourinho takes a dig at Daniel Levy after getting sacked from Tottenham Spurs right before the finals of the Carabao Cup final 2021
In an interview, Roma’s head coach Jose Mourinho laughed out loud after he was asked about his shocking exit from Tottenham just before the Carabao Cup final. He stated about the incident was a “unique experience,” mentioning that Tottenham’s chairman, Daniel Levy is a “unique person.”
Jose Mourinho replied, “No, I’m not afraid [to face an English side]. I just hope we can win. I think Roma, as a city and a club and a group of players, for the work we did this season to try and improve at every level, we deserve to be in the final.”
“I have to admit that in my long career, with so many things that have happened for good and for bad, that [incident] is quite unique. But I think that Mr. Levy is quite a unique person in football”, added Jose Mourinho in his interview.
Jose Mourinho was sacked by Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy in April 2021 just before the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City. He then turned to Rome and became the manager of AS Roma, a team that will face Leicester City in the UEFA Conference League semifinal at the King Power stadium.
All you need to know about Roma’s performance under Jose Mourinho in Seria A this season
Roma is currently at the fifth spot in Seria A with 58 points with four games in hand. They are far from finishing in the top 4 to qualify for the Champions League next season as all the four teams i.e. Juventus, Inter Milan, Milan, Napoli, and Juventus are at least eight points ahead of them.
Jose Mourinho signed Tammy Abraham from Chelsea last summer with a fee of £34 million. Interestingly, it is turning out to be the best signing for the Italian capital under Jose Mourinho as he has already scored 24 goals this season in all competitions. However, there is speculation about the Engish forward moving back to the Premier League next season.
