“There is nothing that can stop him”- Manchester City teammate makes huge prediction about Erling Haaland

If Erling Haaland can maintain his fitness, his Manchester City teammate Manuel Akanji believes that he will score 50 Premier League goals this season. The Norway International has had a great start to life in England, breaking various records while netting 19 goals in 12 appearances across all competitions this season.

Haaland scored twice in a 5-0 hammering of Copenhagen over the midst of the week, giving him 28 goals in 22 Champions League outings for an average of 1.27 goals per game. Following his last hattrick against Manchester United, the 22-year-old became the first player in Premier League history to score hat-tricks in three straight home games.

With 12 goals in eight league games, Haaland will aim for the 34 goals scored in a single season by Andy Cole and Alan Shearer in the top flight. Akanji encourages his teammate to keep scoring. Akanji said, when asked if Haaland may reach 50, “If he stays healthy then I think there is nothing that can stop him, yes.”

With victories over Southampton, City could at least temporarily pass league-leading Arsenal. City has won its last eight home games in the Premier League, scoring at least three goals each time. Pep Guardiola’s team has the joint-most goals scored at this point in a Premier League season with 29 goals after eight games. They will be hoping Haaland can score once more to lift them to the top.

Premier League opponents feel It’s premature to compare Erling Haaland with Harry Kane

Manchester City

While he believes it is too early to compare the City striker to Tottenham icon Harry Kane, Kyle Walker-Peters will be one Saints defender attempting to halt the prolific Norwegian. “Come on,” he told talkSPORT. “Harry Kane has done it for how many years in the Premier League?”

“I think Haaland has had an absolutely unbelievable start. Some of the stats I’m seeing, it’s just ridiculous. But Kane has proven it for God knows how many years now. I don’t think we can compare them just yet. Haaland is definitely hungry to prove to people he’s better than him [Kane]. And Kane will want to stay at the top. So they’ll have a good battle for top goalscorer.”
