Gerard Pique and Shakira announced their separation from each other over a month back. However, the duo are yet to decide on the custody of their 2 children – Sasha and Milan as Shakira has decided to move to Miami and take her children with her.
After multiple reports suggesting that either side is willing to give in on the custody of their boys, it now seems Gerard Pique is ready to let Shakira have full custody of the children after he reportedly learnt about the mental stress the children had to go through due to the separation of their parents.
“It must be difficult” – Gerard Pique on how his children cope with the separation
In conversation with Nexes of TV3, Pique spoke about the mental pressures his children were undergoing amid the publicised separation of him and Shakira. He said, “They have a number one dad and a number one mom. It must be difficult for them.”
“I remember that my dad never let me win and instead, with Shaki we sometimes let them win because we understand that they have a completely different context from what I or she had, that they were unknown parents, we did not have this pressure. Our children live under excessive pressure.”
“It’s what it is and they were born with it.” He continued, “I think it’s important that sometimes they have personal victories, even if it’s at home.”
“Playing soccer with Milan or Sasha you let them win, because it will cost them so much or they will have this pressure to win away from home, that they feel that they have those personal victories inside,” he explained.
Gerard Pique and Shakira are said to be on good terms now even though the former was accused of infidelity with his partner. Hence, the Colombian singer has agreed to let Pique be a part of their children’s lives and not completely shut him off.
