“They have full trust in what we are doing”- Carlo Ancelotti hails current Real Madrid squad as the best he has ever coached

Real Madrid

After defeating Sevilla 3-1 on Saturday night to match their best league start ever, Carlo Ancelotti praised his current Real Madrid team as “one of the best squads I’ve ever had, if not the best.”

Luka Modric gave Los Merengues the lead at the Bernabeu after five minutes, but another former Spurs player pulled Los Merengues back when Erik Lamela equalized for the visitors after 54 minutes. However, late goals from Fede Valverde and Lucas Vazquez gave Madrid the victory, giving them 31 points after 11 games.

In his post-game press conference, Ancelotti said the following: “This is one of the best squads I’ve ever had, if not the best. I like to coach this team because they don’t give me problems, they have full trust in what we are doing.” This week, Madrid will fly to Germany for their next Champions League match against RB Leipzig in an effort to clinch first place in Group F.

Karim Benzema, who missed the game due to a calf injury, was also given an update by Ancelotti on his condition. “He will not be recovered on Tuesday, but I think he will be on Sunday. I am not worried about him because what he had yesterday is a very small thing,” Ancelotti told reporters.

“It is true that he has not had much continuity, but healthy and motivated he is still very important for us, although the health of the squad is so great that we have been able to replace a player as important as him. That does not mean that Karim will not be important in the second part of the season.”
