“This club is about history, not about players”: Casemiro believes Kylian Mbappe’s betrayal won’t affect Real Madrid

Mbappe and Casemiro

Despite the omission of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) striker Kylian Mbappe, Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro has stated that the La Liga champions will continue to win. Mbappe’s choice should be respected, but the star player dismissed accusations that it was a major setback for Los Blancos.

“This club is about history, not about players,” Casemiro stated on Tuesday.

The Brazillian also highlighted that players like Alfredo di Stefano and Cristiano (Ronaldo) may leave their stamp on history, but this club will keep on winning because the players are essential, but the club wins. The supporters may be disappointed, but this team will continue to win with what they have.

Casemiro’s take on the Kylian Mbappe and Real Madrid saga

Kylian Mbappé v Real Madrid

Mbappe managed to score against Real Madrid across both legs of the Champions League last 16 this season, receiving a standing ovation from the Santiago Bernabeu crowd.

Casemiro said Mbappe is a fantastic player who pushed Real Madrid in both legs. He said Mbappe’s decision needs to be respected and if he has taken that decision, it must be accepted and recognized that he has made it with his family.  He concluded by saying that we can no longer discuss a player who is not a Real Madrid player.

“At the end of the day, everyone must determine what is best for their profession and life, but there is nothing more lovely than playing for Real Madrid,” he says.

Carlo Ancelotti was asked previously if the Mbappe hype will impact his players as Real Madrid prepares to beat Liverpool in the Champions League on Saturday and win their 14th European Cup.

In a news conference, Ancelotti stated, “It’s fairly apparent for us what we have to think about.” The Real coach said they have never discussed players from other teams and there has to be respected for everyone, including other clubs.

“We must perform our tasks, and it is obvious what we must consider, which is the final.”, he concluded.
