The fans of Manchester United were NOT pleased with Dean Henderson’s furious outburst during their match.

Henderson claims he was informed he would be the No. 1 and has called Man United’s conduct of him last season “criminal.”

The 25-year-old, who backed up David De Gea last season, was left “fuming” by the unfulfilled promises. In a shocking interview, Henderson, who has signed a season-long loan agreement with Nottingham Forest, revealed his true sentiments.

He said, “To be completely honest with you, it’s definitely been the toughest 12 months of my career,” in a talkSPORT interview. “It’s been difficult, and I’m relieved to have survived it at this point.”

“The conversation I had, coming out of the Euros squad (with England), was that you’re coming back here (to United) to be the No 1 goalkeeper. I got Covid, but then, unfortunately, no one followed through with anything they told me.

“It’s frustrating as well because I turned so many good loans down last summer for that reason and they wouldn’t let me go. To sit there and waste 12 months is criminal, really, at my age. I was fuming.”

Before securing a loan transfer away from Old Trafford ahead of the new campaign, Henderson was asked if he had spoken to Erik ten Hag. He responded, “No. He shouldn’t have seen me in training, I thought. I realized he probably wanted to keep me, so I said that. So, I told the hierarchy that I need to play football, I don’t want to be here and play second fiddle.”

The England goalkeeper’s comments were obviously not well taken by the Man United supporters.

During his time at Man United, Henderson has experienced loan stints with Stockport County, Grimsby Town, Shrewsbury Town, and Sheffield United.

In the 2020–21 season, he participated in 26 games across all competitions, finishing the term as the top choice. But in all tournaments last season, he only made three appearances.
