Real Madrid faced Real Sociedad in La Liga on Sunday. Los Blancos triumphed 2-1 over Sociedad as the home side came from one goal down to earn the three points. However, Real Madrid midfielder and veteran Toni Kroos had a moment to forget when Takefusa Kubo got the better of him. The Japanese international is known for his quick feet and prolific style of play. The player scored a marvelous long-ranger to double Sociedad’s lead but was later disallowed for offside.
Kubo’s moment of brilliance came in the final moments of the first half when the player received the ball on the far side of the pitch. Picking up the ball from near the touchline, Kubo saw Toni Kroos charging at him. In a moment of magic, the 22-year-old poked the ball through the German maestro’s legs, making the crowd erupt in cheers. However, his moment lasted no longer, when Kroos decided to bring down the youngster with a clear foul, to not get away from him.
Kubo has 3 goals and 1 assist in 5 La Liga games for Real Sociedad and is comfortably the best player for his team. His performance in yesterday’s match was lauded by many on social media, both fans and pundits alike.
Kubo spent his childhood years in Barcelona’s academy, La Masia, and came to the limelight after his performances for Japan in the FIFA Under-17 World Cup in 2017. Real Sociedad are 11th in La Liga with 6 points in 5 games.

“He destroyed the old man”: Fans react to Kubo’s Nutmeg
Real Madrid’s comeback win against Real Sociedad sparked a lot of commotion on social media. However, Toni Kroos’ embarrassing moment was picked up by Netizens and the player has been the subject of multiple trolls, with many humorously calling for the player’s retirement.
Another fan jokingly commented that Kubo disrespected the ‘old man’ and that after such a humiliation, he needed to hang up his boots. Fans were also quick to point out how Kubo was Japanese and Kroos was German, pointing to the fact that Germany hadn’t managed to get the better of Japan in quite some time.
A fan commented on how Kroos’ words came back to bite him, recalling how Toni Kroos commented “embarrassing” under a Fabrizio Romano post. Now, they have labeled Kroos’ moment “embarrassing” as well.
However, it was Kroos who had the last laugh, as Madrid came back from the one-goal deficit to snatch all three points and maintain their unbeaten streak in La Liga. Real Madrid sit atop the table, with 15 points in 5 games.
