Toni Kroos is a very serious man when it comes to football. The German maestro isn’t known for his light-heartedness nor is he one to do ‘funny’ things on the pitch. However, the Real Madrid man couldn’t help but laugh at his teammate ahead of kick-off as he picked up the ball from a toy car that brought the ball onto the pitch.
Kai Havertz and Kroos were the ones nearest to the centre circle as a remote controlled car brought the match ball to the pitch. Havertz picked the ball up before the car accidentally drove over his boot. Kroos, who saw the incident unfold from close range, couldn’t help but laugh at the Arsenal forward. He let out a gentle laugh as he saw Havertz jump back in surprise.
Despite the pre-match blooper, both Kroos and Havertz went on to leave their mark on the game. Kroos got to work within seconds, as he fed the ball to Florian Wirtz, who scored his first goal for Germany within seven seconds.
Havertz on the other hand, scored Germany’s second goal of the game, as he tapped the ball in from a Jamal Musiala assist in the 49th minute.
Real Madrid midfielder hints at Toni Kroos’ retirement at end of the season
Real Madrid being stacked in midfield is not new information. From Toni Kroos and Luka Modric to Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouaméni and Fede Valverde, the Los Blancos are equipped with one of the strongest midfields. While Kroos made a return to the German squad, whether he will choose to extend his contract with Real Madrid remains unknown.
Speaking on the same, Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouaméni said that Kroos may in fact hang up his boots at the end of the season.
He's one of the best midfielders to play the game. He's playing at an incredible level. But if you talk of retirement, maybe he can retire at the end of the season. Why? Because he wants to finish at the top levelAurelien Tchouaméni via The Bridge
Kroos has spent a decade at Real Madrid, winning three La Liga titles and 4 UEFA Champions Leagues among other accolades. Kroos is 34 years old and is yet to make a decision on whether to renew or not with Madrid. He has made 37 appearances in all competitions, scoring once and assisting seven.
