UEFA Nations League was the latest European competition introduced by EUFA back in 2018, after the World Cup. Since then, the competition has been held twice with the third one kicking off this week. So far, the tournament has been won by Portugal and France.
Cristiano Ronaldo led Portugal to their second-ever piece of silverware when they defeated the Netherlands in the finals back in 2019. France managed the feat in 2021 when they defeated Spain 2-1 thanks to Karim Benzema and Kylian Mbappe.
This year the competition is more open. Nations that were once written off are back in form and ready to challenge. While countries like France and England remain favourites, a lot of other nations have strengthened their squads as they look for the trophy. Hence, let’s take a look at the top 5 favourites to win the UEFA Nations League in June 2023.

Belgium
Belgium’s golden generation may be diminishing, but they are still one of the strongest squads in Europe. With Kevin de Bryune, Romelu Lukaku, Eden Hazard and Dries Mertens, on their day, Belgium have the strongest attacking team in Europe.
Moreover, players like Thorgan Hazard, Yannick Carrasco, Youri Tielemans and of course, Thibaut Courtois, Belgium are definitely strong contenders for the UEFA Nations League.

Most people had written Spain off after their horrendous exit from the 2018 World Cup. That also saw many of their stars like Andreas Iniesta, David Silva and Gerard Pique also retire from international football.
However, under the new manager, Luis Enrique, Spain has developed into a strong and capable international team. The team reached the semi-finals of the Euro Cup last year while also becoming the finalist of the Nations League. Spain will definitely fancy their chances this time around in the Nation League.
