Tottenham plotting £60 million move for previous Chelsea target Anthony Gordon in January amidst injury crisis: Reports

In an effort to strengthen their offense, Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly “considering a £60 million move for Anthony Gordon” in January. Gordon was rumoured to be moving to Chelsea in the summer earlier this year, but the transfer never materialised.

According to rumours, Tottenham are prepared to seize the chance presented by Chelsea’s failure to sign the player in the summer given that the Blues are supposedly no longer interested. With three of the Toffees’ 11 goals so far this season, the 21-year-old has been a standout for Everton. However, Premier League clubs have taken notice of Gordon’s performance in more ways than one.

The winger is sought after by clubs that like to press hard because of his energy and commitment both on and off the ball. A deal for the player could be challenging because Everton manager Frank Lampard is reportedly a “huge fan” of his winger. This is one of the reasons why Gordon’s deal to Chelsea never happened, but Spurs are apparently prepared to test Everton’s resilience.

Richarlison, a former player for Everton, cost Tottenham £60 million during the summer, and the report claims it will cost a similar price to tempt Gordon to North London. Due to the injuries suffered by Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison, and Son Heung-min, Antonio Conte is reportedly on the lookout for new “creative” talent.

Gordon would probably be used by the Italian as a substitute or starter in place of anyone on the Spurs front line, regardless of position. As the World Cup break approaches, Tottenham will be hoping that their attack-related injury concerns lessen as they prepare to start the second half of the season.

Chelsea, under new boss Graham Potter, are not thought to be keen to revive their interest in the January window. That could leave Spurs with a free run at him. Everton opened contract talks with Gordon in an attempt to secure his future — though no deal has been struck yet.
