Tottenham Hotspur is soon to be known as the ‘Home of the NFL’ in the UK. The North Londoners have reportedly signed a ten-year contract extension on an already ongoing agreement with the National Football League a.k.a the NFL. This is because the Tottenham Hotspur stadium remains the only Stadium outside of the US that has adequate facilities to host an NFL game.
The contract extension will see Tottenham Hotspur Stadium hosting two NFL games every year. 12 of the existing 32 teams in the league have already played in the £1.2 billion stadium. While having managed to attract ‘sellout’ crowds. In the face of this exemplary success, the NFL and Tottenham have come to an agreement until 2030.
The latest NFL game that the Tottenham stadium witnessed was the clash between the New York Giants and the Green Bay Packers. Earlier, these games were hosted at Wembley, however, ever since Tottenham upgraded from White Hart Lane, it has come to be known as the ‘Home of the NFL’ in the UK.

A statement from Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy read, “Our partnership with the NFL has been integral to our wider vision for the stadium. Delivering a sports and entertainment destination in London.” He also added that these ‘additional’ sources of income were integral to Tottenham’s financial model.
He also said that the income from the NFL would be reinvested into the club’s footballing activities. Finally, he stated, “We are proud to be given official status as the Home of the NFL in the UK.”
How did Tottenham players fare over the International Break?
Tottenham Hotspur is second in the Premier League just two points behind the leaders, Manchester City. This all down to the stellar performances despite Harry Kane’s transfer to Bayern Munich. He was the club’s all-time topscorer and his departure felt like the Londoners would succumb to not being able to score. However, since then Ange Postecoglou‘s side has seen an unexpected flip in fortune- scoring 11 goals in 4 games.
James Maddison and Son Heung-min are touted to be the new Kane-Son duo for the Lillywhites. And, ahead of the match against Sheffield on the weekend, these two are likely to retain their position in the starting XI. Son bagged a hat-trick against Burnley earlier this month and Maddison has been nothing short of amazing. The Englishman is proving to be a bargain at this point.

Now, the arrival of 22-year-old Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest only strengthens Tottenham in the attack. As for Richarlison, it will be a competition for him to retain his slot as the Spurs’ number 9. The Aussie manager has often heard saying a healthy dressing room battle is always a way to go for players to grow. Hopefully, this move could revive Richarlison’s form.
