Trent Alexander-Arnold played a crucial part in Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Sheffield United on Wednesday. The right-back teed up Virgil van Dijk with a sublime assistant from a corner. However, the Englishman has gone viral for another reason, one that he may not be particularly proud of. Netizens are having a good laugh at the 25-year-old’s ‘wardrobe malfunction’ which occurred during the build-up to his team’s first goal.

Liverpool picked up an important away win in their race for first place as they tackled Sheffield United 2-0. The win leaves Liverpool within touching distance of league leaders Arsenal, who are 2 points above them. Trent picked up his 2nd assist in the league as Virgil van Dijk met his cross first-time to give his team the lead. Subsequently, Dominik Szoboszlai finished the game off for the visitors through a brilliant close-range finish in the 94th minute.

Even though Trent enjoyed a brilliant game on the pitch, fans were drawn to the player’s awkward moment, while the ball was not in play. A camera focussing on the corner kick taker captured Trent adjusting (pulling down) his shorts as he prepared to take the kick.

He then raises his jersey to reveal his half-exposed ‘buttocks’. It is safe to say that the player did not let that interfere with his game, as the corner found Virgil van Dijk, who made no mistake in scoring.

Fans react to Trent Alexander-Arnold’s “ASSist”

The internet can’t stop laughing, and here’s why. Trent Alexander-Arnold had a moment to forget as he inadvertently exposed his ‘buttocks’ on live television. The player has then been subject to thousands of hilarious and ‘creative’ trolls on social media. What immediately surfaced was fans praising Trent with a brilliant bit of wordplay. A fan praised him for his ‘ASSist’.

Others made fun of the situation, labelling it as how they wanted Trent to react to his haters. Another fan said that the game had everything – from a Trent assist to a Trent ‘ass reveal’ and a VVD goal. Others posted clips from popular memes and movies to emulate how Trent himself would react to the news. Another joked and said that if Trent can do that with his ‘ass out’, he can do it all.

Surprisingly, Aston Villa are third thanks to a 14th straight win at home. Crucial fixtures await Liverpool in the league, as games against Crystal Palace, Manchester United, and Arsenal hang in the distance.
