Troy Deeney is immortalized in the footballing community for his iconic goal against Leicester City in the 2013 Championship semi-final play-offs. However, the former Watford captain has not fared well during his time as coach to say the least. After taking charge of Forest Green Rovers, a team in Football League Two, the former Watford man had a moment to forget in his ‘final’ game for the club as a touchline ban coincided with his dismissal.
Deeney took charge of Forest not long ago, in December, as his managerial stint lasted just six games. Surprisingly, he failed to lead his side to a single victory, managing just two points overall. The club parted ways with him under controversial circumstances, following comments aimed at his own players and staff. However, pointing to his touchline ban picked up in late December, officials revealed ‘shocking’ news.

As Forest lost 2-1 to Swindon Town, Deeney attacked the fourth official with expletives in am angry outburst. He said,
If you weren't a referee, I'd punch your f***ing head in.
He was sent off following the outburst, after which he called the official a f***ing weasel.
The manager was let go by the club following news of his touchline ban. Forest are currently 24th in Football League Two.
Troy Deeney and Forest Green Rovers – What went wrong?
Troy Deeney‘s dismissal as Forest coach comes as no surprise, with a a quick look at his record at the club. Zero wins and two points in six games is enough reason for any club to let go of a manager. That being said, there were several other factors that culminated in his dismissal following the outburst and touchline ban. To begin with, the player went on an angry rant about his own players and club.

He referred to his players as “babies” while also calling Fankaty Dabo that he was “not good” in front his teammates. The player was brought in from Birmingham City to serve as player-coach which evolved into a permanent coach position. Ripping into Fankaty Dabo, the former manager said that he was a kick away from the Premier League, and that now he won’t even play a game in the National League.
In another extraordinary rant, he called his own players ‘babies’. Deeney said,
There are too many babies from top to bottom.
The UEFA-A licensed coach eventually made his exit from the club. As of now, it is unclear whether Deeney will once again dive into management or continue as a player. As for Forest, the club are most certainly doomed for relegation, and are nine points below safety.
