Harry Kane has lost his first opportunity to get a trophy in Bayern Munich. They faced RB Leipzig in the DFL Supercup. It is a tournament in which the previous year’s Bundesliga winners face the DFB Pokal winners. Many expected the reigning league champions to win it. With the addition of Kane to the squad, they looked as mighty as ever.
However, the game didn’t go according to plan. Kane, who had just completed his medicals, started on the bench. Within the first few minutes, RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo brought carnage. He opened the scoreline making it 1-0. They dominated throughout the first half where Bayern barely even performed.
Just before the end of the 1st half in the 44th minute, Olmo doubled the lead. This was a bridge too far for the Bavarians as they were finding it hard to get an answer for the first one itself. In the 64th minute, recent signing Harry Kane finally arrived on the pitch to try and get his new team back into the game. But Bayern wanted the Champions League which Tuchel had already won with Chelsea. He also went to a final with PSG.
However, it has not worked out as they thought it would. Bayern were knocked out by eventual champions Manchester City in the quarter-finals of the competition. They somehow won the league on the last day after Dortmund dropped points in their last game. Many people will now start questioning Tuchel’s ability to get the team forward.
