Real Madrid and England’s star midfielder Jude Bellingham has become the most recent recipient of the Kopa Trophy. He won this award after Barcelona’s Gavi and Pedri. He has enjoyed a stunning start to life with the Los Blancos netting 13 goals in his first 13 appearances with the club.

However, the Kopa Trophy is for recognizing his contribution to Borussia Dortmund last year where he was runners-up in the Bundesliga. He scored 14 times including some beautiful goals in 42 appearances for the German club.

With the national team, he reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Qatar. He won the award over his former England roommate Jamal Musiala who plays for Bayern Munich. At the ceremony, a heartwarming video message was shown to Bellingham from Musiala which underlined their bond and support for each other as growing and developing young players.

Bellingham said while accepting the award:

To win this trophy means a lot but for me the important thing.

He then went on to thank his teammates and parents for providing him with constant support and a platform to press himself at the highest level.

As Jude Bellingham became the latest player to win the Kopa Trophy at the Ballon d’Or ceremony this year he joined an elite list of players. Pedri, Gavi, Matthijs De Ligt, and Kylian Mbappe have won the award.
