Arsenal has made their path towards the champions league harder after they lost to Brighton 2-1 on Saturday at the Emirates Stadium. Martinelli’s goal was ruled out for offside by the VAR as they looked to equalize the score and Arsenal fans and officials were quite furious after the controversial VAR decision.

Martin Odegaard scored a stunner but his brilliance could not secure three points for the Gunners. Just before Gabriel Martinelli thought that he had brought the team back on level, VAR interfered and took nearly five minutes to disallow the goal. The football world was frustrated by VAR’s decision which took more than four minutes to conclude as they reacted on Twitter.

Twitter reacts as the Gunners go down twice in a week in the Premier League after they lost to Crystal Palace in the mid-week and again suffered a loss at home to Brighton. Arsenal has lost to only four teams at home this season which include Liverpool, Chelsea, Man City, and Brighton.

Arsenal vs Brighton: As it happened

Arsenal vs Brighton ended in a 2-1 defeat for the Gunners

Arsenal has been fighting for the top four spots in the Premier League to assure their place in the champions league next season. They were at the fifth spot with points on the level with Tottenham with one game in hand. They could have looked to overtake Conte’s side and take the lead by three points to stay in the race.

Enock Mwepu assisted for the first goal to Leonardo Trossado and scored a goal to give a two-goal lead to Brighton. He has been the key player for the side and has won the Man of the Match for his outstanding performance.

Martin Odegaard scored the only goal for the Gunners in the 89th minute but couldn’t save the three points from slipping away. All this has now put Arsenal’s hopes, of securing a top-four finish after six years, in danger once again.
