According to football journalist Florian Plettenberg, Jamal Musiala might join either Real Madrid or Manchester City. Sky Sports Deutschland reports suggest that Musiala’s departure from Bayern Munich hinges on two goals: winning the Ballon d’Or and Bayern’s chances in the UEFA Champions League.

Plettenberg also notes that Musiala’s €9 million salary is good, but some international clubs can offer more. He stated:

The €9 million in salary 'is proper' but, in international comparison, there are clubs that could pay more immediately. If Musiala leaves Bavaria at some point - possibly in 2025 - then two clubs will be possible. These are Real Madrid and Manchester City.

Jamal Musiala’s contract with Bayern Munich runs out in 2026 with reports claiming there are no talks between the club and the player with regards to a contract extension.

Liverpool have also shown an interest in the player, but reports have claimed, the Bavarians remain uninterested. Bayern Munich are wary of the clubs interested in their ‘star-boy’ and are currently undertaking steps to ensure that Musiala remains a player for their club.

Jamal Musiala’s road to being a starter at Bayern Munich

Joining the Bavarian giants in 2020 as a youth product from Chelsea, Jamal Musiala has already lifted 10 titles in his 3-year stint at the club. Musiala has won the Bundesliga for four seasons running, followed by a Champions League medal for the 2019/20 season where the player appeared on the bench but remained as an unused sub throughout the tournament.

The player’s road to being a starter for Bayern Munich was slow with then manager, Hansi Flick playing him off the bench on several occasions throughout the 20/21 Bundesliga season. Under new Bayern manager, Julian Nagelsmann, Musiala’s progress continued as he was deployed mainly in the centre of the pitch.

Musiala would, however, have to wait until the 2022/23 season to become a mainstay for the club. He began over 78% of Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga games that season and would have a huge impact off the bench, scoring a late winner against Koln which sealed Bayern’s 11th consecutive title.

Now with reports claiming the player has fallen out with Thomas Tuchel, Jamal Musiala could be on his way out with media outlets suggesting a reunion with old friend, Jude Bellingham could be on the cards at Real Madrid.
