The US Men’s National Team captain (USMNT), Tyler Adams, has suffered yet another serious hamstring injury according to reports. He will be unable to play until 2024. Adams currently plays for AFC Bournemouth in England, where he joined after one season with Leeds United.

Bournemouth signed Adams for £20 million on a five-year contract. However, he’s likely to miss many games in his first season with the team due to a potential second hamstring surgery. Earlier this year, he had surgery on his hamstring, which kept him out for an extended period. He made his debut on September 27th in a Carabao Cup game against Stoke City. Now, he won’t return to play until 2024, and he’ll also miss playing for the USMNT in friendlies against Germany and Ghana.

“Tyler, we don’t expect him soon again with us,” confirmed Bournemouth manager, Andoni Iraola further adding, “It’s the same hamstring. He played some minutes because he wanted to give it a try, but he didn’t have good sensations.” USMNT manager, Gregg Berhalter, furthermore confirmed that Tyler Adams would not make the team sheet due to his injuries. This comes as a blow for the US as Berhalter had previously mentioned, “[Tyler] is the general. He is the strategist. He’s the guy that goes out there and leads by example. When he talks, people listen.”

Tyler Adams’ meteoric rise has been halted due to injuries

Tyler Adams made his mark on the MLS at a young age. Playing for the New York Red Bulls, the US International made his debut for the club against Chelsea in the International Champions Cup. In a game which New York would go on to win 4-2, Tyler Adams would also make it onto the scoresheet capping his debut off with a goal.

His performances earned him a move to German side, RB Leipzig at the age of 19, joining the likes of American compatriots, Weston McKennie and Christian Pulisic in the Bundesliga. Three seasons later, Adams would join the West Yorkshire side, Leeds United. The player started strong – making 24 appearances – but missed the latter stages of the season due to a hamstring injury resulting in Leeds getting relegated and Adams looking for a move away.

Now at the Cherries, the US international is looking at an extended period away from the pitch due to the same hamstring getting injured again.
