Real Madrid suffered from complacency as Los Blancos suffered a big blow in their title defence

Villarreal players mock Real Madrid players with ‘tomorrow a day off’ chants after La Liga win over them

Following a 3-2 victory over title holders, Real Madrid, Villarreal CF were appearing to mock the Spanish Giants. The Yellow Submarine enacted the Los Blancos’ manager, Carlo Ancelotti, who had promised a day off for his players after their thrashing of Barcelona at Camp Nou.

The away dressing room of the Santiago Bernabeu was rocking after the game. The Villarreal players were seen chanting, “Tomorrow day off! Tomorrow day off!” following their sensational victory against the European Champions.

Goals from Samuel Chukwueze on either side of a Jose Morales equalizer sealed the three points for the Yellow Submarine. Villarreal are now just four points off a Champions League spot and will be hoping to narrow that gap further when they take on Real Valladolid at the El Madrigal next Saturday.

After yet another poor result in the league, the La Liga title race is more or less over. The reigning champions have fallen 12 points behind arch-rivals FC Barcelona, having played a game more.

The Los Blancos were handed yet another blow in their title defence when they let a one-goal lead slip away against Villarreal. A stellar performance from Samuel Chukwueze sank Ancelotti’s men. Real Madrid will need some sort of miracle to get back in the title race now. With Barcelona looking extremely solid in their formation, it will be nigh impossible for any opposition to break down their defence.

Barcelona will now take on Girona FC at Camp Nou this Tuesday. After a humiliating 4-0 loss to Real Madrid in the Copa Del Rey semi-final, the Catalan Club will be hoping to bounce back and further strengthen their position at the top of the league table.
