The incident took place outside the match arena in the parking lot while the Los Groguets were boarding their bus in the Bernabeu parking lot. As a result, it was not a part of match officer Javier Alberola Roja’s match report.
“Very happy for the incredible victory of my team at a stadium like the Santiago Bernabeu, but at the same time very sad for the assault I have suffered after the game. I am surprised about what is being said about me. It is completely false that I said that,” said the player.
The Los Groguets player has now formally launched a complaint against the Uruguayan. It is yet not clear before whom the complaint has been lodged. If the complaint has been lodged before the Spanish Football Federation’s Competition Committee, they might give Valverde some minor punishment.
Valverde might face a punishment that might include a ban from two to 12 matches depending upon which article the player is booked under. If the player is booked under Article 130 he may be disqualified for two to three games and with a massive fine. If the complaint is lodged before the Anti-Violence Commission the player, might create greater problems for the 24-year-old midfielder. The body might ask for greater punishment against the Uruguayan on the grounds of racism, xenophobia or intolerance in sport or may instruct the Spanish Football Federation’s Competition Committee to investigate the matter in greater depth.
