On 2nd March, Real Madrid faced Valencia at Mestalla, with the game ending 2-2. It was a controversial game due to a last minute goal by Jude Bellingham not being counted by referee Jesus Gil Manzano, which ended up in the English midfielder being sent off.
Now new information regarding that match has come out, which points towards a humongous rift between Vinicius Jr and Real Madrid. Vinicius has been a victim of racism, and felt offended by a post made by his own club.
Before Madrid played Valencia, the club posted a photo of the Brazilian forward with the logo of Israeli DJ Vini Vici. The logo shows a monkey evolving into a DJ. The photo was up for 30 minutes before it was finally taken down due to Vinicius contacting the Real Madrid club officials.
According to a report by Revelo, Vinicius was offended and furious by the post, and threatened to not play against Valencia. After a chat with CEO Jose Angel Sanchez, he played and scored a brace. Unfortunately, he was racially abused by the Valencia fans, which led to the club reporting the fans.
Real Madrid filed a complaint against racial abuse to Vinicius Jr.
Before Atletico Madrid knocked out Inter Milan out of the Champions League, a video of the Atletico fans racially abusing Vinicius Jr. surfaced on the internet. The fans were singing “Allez, allez, allez, VInicius chimpanzé”.
The forward reposted the video, asking UEFA if they decided their punishment. He further called it sad that he was being racially abused even though he was not playing.
The club was unhappy with the racial abuse their player was receiving and filed a complaint against the fans. In a statement released by the club, they claimed Vinicius was also abused by FC Barcelona fans before their match against Napoli.
Real Madrid has filed a complaint with the Attorney General's Office against hate crimes and discrimination, for the racist and hateful insults directed towards our player Vinicius Jr in the vicinity of the Olympic Stadium of Montjuic and the Metropolitan Stadium of Madrid.
