Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr slammed LaLiga president Javier Tebas on Monday for his failure to deal with racism in the Spanish top flight. Vinicius Jr was sent off for reacting to abuse during his side’s 1-0 defeat by Valencia on Sunday.
The Brazilian winger was subjected to racist chants during the game. The player reacted by lashing out at Hugo Duro during a melee in added time. Despite appearing to be put in a headlock before striking his opponent, Vinicius Jnr was the only player sent off following the incident. He was visibly upset as he left the pitch, looking up at the stands with tears in his eyes.
Vinicius Jr has lashed out at President Tebas as he blames him for showing a lack of concern for the racist acts that are happening in the league day in and day out. Vinicius Jr. posted on his social media. He said, “Once again, instead of criticizing racists, the president of La Liga appears on social media to attack me. As much as you talk and pretend not to read. The image of your championship is shaken. See the responses to your posts and have a surprise. Omitting yourself only makes you equal to racists. I’m not your friend to talk about racism. I want actions and punishments. Hashtag doesn’t move me.”
This reportedly isn’t the first time that the Brazilian faced racial abuse this season. Time and time again Vinicius Jr has been facing the “Mono Mono…” chants from the racists. The player, his teammates, and the club, all have complained to La Liga to take up some action against these abusers. But till now nothing strong or prominent has been done by the league to secure the player from any more racial abuse.

Media houses in Spain have reported that Carlo Ancelotti has expressed his interest in a reunion with the Brazilian striker at Santiago Bernabeu. Real Madrid sees Richarlison as a potential replacement for Karim Benzema.
Ancelotti worked with the Brazil international forward during his stint at Everton. Richarlison too hasn’t had a great season after he switch camps. He might also be interested to go on a new adventure and wouldn’t mind seeing a few familiar faces in that adventure.
