Vinicius Jr. is not backing down in the face of racism. The Real Madrid No.7 has been subject to racist chants and abusive language time and again. The Brazilian has, at least on ten separate occasions, been victim to racism in La Liga.

A very vocal proponent in the fight against racism, the forward has made it a decision to not be forced out of the club when faced with abuse. In a recent interview ahead of an international friendly versus Spain, the winger claimed that he will remain resolute in his fight against racism.

I've never thought about leaving Spain because that would be giving the racists what they want. I'm not going to leave the best club in the World. I will remain firm and strong because the President and club support me.

He has been in stellar form this season and his performances have only been made better when faced with chants and taunts from rival fans. His 18 goals and 6 assists have been crucial to Madrid’s success as the Los Blancos are top of the table in La Liga while also having qualified for the Champions League quarter-finals. His next game is against Spain at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Many commended his decision to remain at Real Madrid and that his choice was a very bold one. Some however, found it surprising that it was only he who was at the end of racist comments despite not being the only black player at the club.

Rival fans jokingly added that him staying at Real isn’t good for their clubs’ success. Many blamed the La Liga President and its rules for not being strict nor harsh enough against perpetrators.

The 23-year-old has in the past, called out Javier Tebas and the League’s half-hearted response to complaints. The fact that even rival fans set aside their differences and pledged their support to the player was a heartwarming incident. It is well and truly time that football as a sport kicks out racism as a whole. Many claimed that as football fans, it is only fitting that Vinicius Jr. shuts the mouths of those who are against him.
